Positive options for young people and their families
Reconnect is a program designed to help young
people and their families to deal with a variety of issues that
many young people face.
These can be things like:
-
personal problems or worries
-
disagreements with family or caregiver
-
leaving home or thinking about it
-
problems with housing or finance
-
trouble at school, TAFE or uni, or not
knowing how to access these
-
problems finding work or training
What we offer
We can help young people and families to talk
through these issues, and to work towards positive outcomes.
We can:
-
provide mediation
-
offer support and counselling
-
assist with accommodation concerns
-
make connections with people who can help
with education, training and employment
-
provide a confidential and free service.
Why we help young people and families
Sometimes, when families find themselves in
tough times, it helps if someone can assist them to work out
their options and find ways to discuss and negotiate. This can
help families to stay together and find an understanding. When
families can’t stay together, workers can assist the young
person to find a safe and secure place to live, assist them to
stay in contact with their family, and also be involved with
things like school, training, family and community, even though
they are not living at home.
Who we work with
We work with young people aged from 12 to 18
(and their families) from all cultures and backgrounds, who may
be at risk of leaving home or who have been out of home less
than 12 weeks.
If you are from a non-English speaking
background and need an interpreter, we will be happy to arrange
one.
