Providing alternative education and employment pathways
The READY (Reconnecting Education and
Disengaged Youth) Program was a partnership between Mercy Family
Services, the Department of Education and the Arts (in
particular Glenala State High School and Forest Lake High
School), and the Brisbane City Council.
The Program offered a service to young people,
15-17 years of age in the Inala/ Forest Lake/Carole Park areas,
who were disengaged from school due to school expulsion, school
refusal or incompatibility, substance abuse.
Unfortunately due to the unavailability of
ongoing funding, the service is unable to be provided in 2006.
Mercy Family Services acknowledges the participation of partners
in an exciting initiative and particularly wishes to thank the
staff involved for their contribution and commitment.
