Participation, communication, and increased access for
Queensland’s culturally diverse society
Mercy Family Services works in partnership with the state
government in this program to increase access, participation and
cohesion in Queensland’s culturally diverse society.
Activities
Our Multicultural Community Worker is part of a network of
people across the state who have been appointed to work
alongside culturally and linguistically diverse groups to
achieve the following goals:
-
increased participation in government
consultation, planning, policy development and decision
making
-
improved identification, communication and
linkage of needs of culturally and linguistically diverse
groups to government and non-government service providers
-
improved levels of knowledge, understanding
and acceptance of the benefits of cultural diversity in the
community
-
enhanced levels of community capacity to
identify, and communicate issues and needs, to develop
independent linkages with service providers, to participate
fully in community life and to develop sustainable community
initiatives and solutions.
