Grandparents Resourced And New
Directions In Educational Support
The Grandies project, funded until May 2006, is targeted to support
grandparents who are the primary carers of their grandchildren
in the Warwick/Stanthorpe Corridor.
Services
Primary services include:

information and referral

parenting skills support and information for
grandparents

individual counselling and support

support groups, including social and
recreational activities

grandparent volunteers and mentors.
Topics/issues that may be addressed through these activities
include:

understanding child and adolescent
development
-
understanding how the experiences of growing
up and raising children differ from the past

information about accessing financial
benefits and other support services
-
enhancing grandparent/grandchildren life
skills

understanding relevant legal and social
issues.
