Multicultural & Community Support

Mercy Community Services Family Services picture of a family

At Mercy Community (MC) Family Services, we carry out a range of multicultural programs for refugees and migrant families in the Brisbane and Logan areas and the Toowoomba and South West Regions, which are also the highest areas of refugee settlement in Queensland.

We deliver targeted state and federally-funded programs such as:

  • the Unaccompanied Minors Program (UMP) in Brisbane
  • the Settlement Grants Program (SGP) at our Toowoomba Fatima Centre and the Romero Centre in Dutton Park
  • the Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) Program in Toowoomba.

Our extensive experience with refugees and migrants settling in Queensland has led to MCS Family Services becoming a valued primary advice and information point for other metropolitan and regional agencies wishing to access and work with families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Our multicultural programs regularly use accredited interpreter services. The language groups most commonly supported by interpreters include Anuak; Arabic; Burmese; Dari; Dinka; Farsi; French; Hausa; Karen; Kirundi; Kiswahili; Liberian English; Madi; Mende; Shona; Sudanese Arabic and Swahili.
