Family & Relationships Service Goodna, Ipswich & Inala

Our Family and Relationships Service helps men and fathers living in the Goodna, Ipswich and Inala areas to manage a range of relationship difficulties with their families, partners and ex-partners, children and step-children.

We offer support to men and their families from all cultures, eighteen years and over who live between Inala and Ipswich.

Counselling is available for men individually or with their partners or the whole family and covers issues such as beginning new relationships, improving current relationships, parenting, anxiety, conflict, depression, separation and anger management (one-on-one).

Parenting for Men Program

The Parenting for Men Program is an 11 week course open to men living in the Goodna, Ipswich and Inala areas. This program will explore how children develop physically, emotionally and mentally and how men as fathers have a vital role in this development.

The program focuses on the attachment of a father and their child, the importance of connection in this process and how to help a child feel secure and safe in their environment.

Within a group setting men will:

  • explore their parenting styles and practices
  • identify intergenerational parenting practices
  • learn to connect the impact of their behaviour on their children in a non-judgmental and practical manner
  • identify their capacity to change.

Course participants who complete the course receive a graduation certificate presented to them at a formal ceremony.

Courses Each course runs for 11 weeks on Wednesdays from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm at Mercy Community Services (MCS) Family Services Goodna.

Cost The program costs $50.00 per person.

This cost covers:

  • morning tea and lunch each training session
  • a fun day trip for each father and one of their children
  • a formal graduation for all completing participants.
