Connected Families Program Goodna & Toowoomba

Introducing our Connected Families Intensive Family Support Service

All families experience challenges as they move through the different stages of their lives. Sometimes, things can become a little too tough.

At Connected Families, we support you and your family as you go through these difficult times.

We work with you to manage and improve your family relationships and communication, your children’s behaviours and how your teenagers deal with the issues they face. We also support you with managing household routines and maintenance, family budgeting and your family members’ health and wellbeing.

We can help you and your family ‘navigate the system’ of support services that are available to you.

We can also help you increase your family’s social connections, as well as links with community resources, so that you are equipped to face family challenges in the future.

Would my family be eligible for support through Connected Families?

Your family is eligible for support if there are family members up to 18 years of age, there are multiple and complex needs within the family, no child in the family is currently being supported by Child Safety and family members would benefit from intensive and specialist services.

Your family is also eligible if a lack of support means that a child in the family could come within the child protection system.

How do I start the process of support?

You and your family can be referred to Connected Families by a school principal, health professional, Child Safety worker, community-based support worker, relative or member of the public.

Can I refer my family for support?

Yes, you or your family can self-refer to us for support at any time.

Seeking your consent

Participation in our service is voluntary. We explain how we can support your family and you decide if you would like to accept that support.

Can my family withdraw from the service?

Yes, you and your family can withdraw from Connected Families at any time.

How does Connected Families work?

Once your family has been referred to us for support, one of our case workers contacts you to arrange an introductory discussion. This can be held in your home or at one of our offices. Together, we work out what kinds of support your family needs and the best way to provide these.

There are many ways in which we support you

Through Connected Families, we can provide you with practical in-home support, help with parenting skills and family relationships, advice and therapeutic guidance, links to other specialist services and material aid in emergencies.

A range of groups is also available for parents and children.

We support you when you need us most

We fit in with your family schedules and support you at the times you most need a hand. This can be during busy morning and evening routines and when you are free from work.

Where will you work with me to give me support?

Most of our work is done in your home, at times that suit you and your family. We can also use other spaces for individual counselling, family work and group activities.
