Welcome to Mercy Family Services

Mercy Family Services delivers inclusive, responsive and innovative services for children, young people and families in south-east Queensland.

We help disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and families feel valued, connected and strengthened and have hope for the future.

Our services include foster care and kinship programs for children and young people unable to live at home because of child protection concerns.

We recruit and support members of the community who take on the invaluable role of foster carers. If you are thinking about becoming a foster carer, contact us for more information. We’d love to hear from you!

We work closely with families to help them meet the care and safety needs of their children.

Our residential care programs are located in south-east Queensland and provide safe, fully supported placements for young people with complex needs who may require intensive support during their placement.

Our counselling programs are staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of social workers and psychologists.

Our multicultural programs support young refugees who arrive in Australia without parental support and families in new and emerging communities who have recently arrived here.

We have close partnerships with other agencies providing advice and support to children and young people in foster care.

We work with the Department of Communities Child Safety Services and with a range of professionals who give specialist advice for children and young people, their families and carers.

We also work closely with community organisations and government departments such as settlement agencies, schools, counselling organisations, housing services and Centrelink.

Our work is based on the values of:

  • respect for each person
  • hope in each person
  • social justice for all people
  • safety in all our actions
  • excellence for the benefit of all.

Our programs are funded by the Queensland Department of Communities, Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, Multicultural Affairs Queensland, the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Brisbane City Council, the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy and private benefactors. Our facilitated family support program is fee-for-service.

Mercy Family Services is sponsored by the Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy.
